3/26/21 was the wizard pool reopening, not sure about the rest.
RC Pilot Jim
Must have missed the re-opening. What date did the pools reopen?

I believe wearing a mask is required per NPS rules, everyone was distanced and safe this weekend. I don’t think there are any issues with safety right now :)

Good news that the pools have reopened! Are masks still required? I've been wearing my mask for so long, I would feel naked without my mask.

Easter is a super Fun-Fun time, tho...
SilverBob
Yep!  It's not as busy as Presidents' Day, but the week before and the week after Easter are usually busier than the rest of March and April. (*HINT* Think "Spring Break")

Is easter weekend usually a busy time at SVWS?

SilverBob
Well, what's it gonna take to convince you? The Springs are open. There's water in the tubs and that water is hot. The crowd is growing and will likely continue to grow through Easter weekend, as it does every year. If you don't like crowds,
I'd suggest you stay away for a couple weeks.

Meanwhile, the Springs are still open.

I'm still in a state of disbelief and would like to be certain.  Are the tubs open now?  Any report on the current visitation load?

A fine first trip to Saline Valley.   It was windy the first day but the second was perfect, though the first wasn't really that bad.   Dennis' wife was very kind to make a lovely hat for my daughter Hannah.    Thanks.

There was a few weeks there that the NPS told the springs to go home. They packed up, emptied the source, and. went. home.

Now, no one was there to witness it... so did it actually happen? [comp]

Your nitpicking is correct I suppose - camping was closed, pools were closed, showers and sinks were closed, but not the springs...
James Sel
Dautremont The springs were never closed. The pools are not springs.

Interesting analysis and comment - the most recent Inyo County report has 11.6/100,000 infection rate, still strongly in the purple, most restricted tier.  Clearly the springs were kept closed, and then ordered re opened and refilled, for reasons other than infection rates in Inyo County.  Inyo County is much larger than most CA counties, with a much lower population density - the type of county where infectious disease spread is usually much lower.

Deautremont - Inyo County does not have a significant Covid problem.  The problem is the metrics are developed for much larger populations and don't work well for small counties.  If Inyo County as ONE positive case, it is kept in the Purple Tier.  That is not really a fair metric, to say the county has to get down to zero cases when other places aren't required to do the same.
