We stopped around the same place, it sounds like. I was game to try that ridge walk, but more cautious minds prevailed. Would still like to get over to those other workings!

Glad you were able to make it up there; even stopping where you did, it's a magical place.

We hiked up to Snowflake Nov 30, 2024. Yup, not gonna be driving much of anything. We drove to 36.73495, -117.86332. Six mile round trip and ya wonder how a road stayed usable back in the day, it was so bad. We stopped just past the mine where a rock slide made for nasty side hilling on the old road bed, with a scary drop off below. You might be able to run the ridge onto more favorable terrain above the old roadbed.

Thanks turbodb, it looks like nature has stepped in to help preserve one of the valleys amazing historical gems!

The canyon above is wonderful too, but it was spectacular before us, and will likely be incredible long after we are gone, like the whole valley itself. We are just a blink of the eye compared to the forces that have been at work there.

Great trip reports BTW!

It is completely washed out at the bottom and all along the way. It's a long hike. I went up to the Snowflake Mine in 2022, but not all the way to Beverage.

How is the road up to Beverage Cabin these days?
I haven't been up there in years and was considering a hike up the canyon to enjoy the waterfalls and the narrow gorges above.
The latest satellite images from Google earth look like it is washed out in many places without any signs of fresh travel.
