Save yourself some money and trouble. There is no way Prelude can make it. Miller can charge way more when the roads are this bad.

There is no way in hell a Honda Prelude will make it on either the north or south pass. If you make that attempt, bring enough food and water to be able to wait for someone to come by and get you out - and be prepared to pay Miller's at least $1200 to get what is left of your car out of there.

A stock Toyota SUV barely made it in last weekend.

The washouts on both passes will eat your car and you'll wind up blocking the road.

North pass is hosed from 3 mile grade (lead cyn) to Willow Creek Camp. South pass is just hosed, as per usual - but worse.

Hi,

We had a blast at the Saline Valley Hot Springs in March.  We barely made it in the north pass in  our low Honda Prelude.  We loved joining the community and found it hard to leave. Due to an unexpected loss of employment, we are granted some time to make the trip again, but we are looking for alternative ways down than by taking our poor car. If anyone is headed down in the next day or two with something with more ground clearance and a little extra room, we are very compact and come baring beer, gas money and excellent company on the drive to the springs.  Alternately, if anyone has been down recently and thinks we might make it in again with no tremendous difficulty, please let us know.  We had a glorious time meeting Major Tom, and Lizard Lee and all of the community members who make the hot springs such a special place. We hope to see you out there, and thank you for any help and recommendations!
