Having lived in and/or worked in the low desert since 1971 my rule of thumb is:
June 15 to Sept 15 there is miserably hot weather.
A month before and after those dates you can figure on hot days and less hot nights.
In the desert, anything less than 100 degrees isn't really hot.

I will be passing thru on June 9 and 10 on my way to the ECV doins at Lake Diaz as I always do.  Last June it was about 108 in the day and not really all that bad.  The low was about 87 @ 5:00am.  For me it's not the heat that time of year it's the BUGS that suck.  I found if you get away from water there are no bugs.  The end of the runway by the windsock was bug free.

Thanks for the quick reply; looks like that might be too hot for us, unfortunately.

I would have liked to go earlier -- the weather now looks great -- but we won't get a break till June.   So how hot does Saline Valley usually get in June?   I can't seem to find records / averages of  past years on the National Weather Service pages ; they must be somewhere, but my Google-fu is weak.
