+1 for Steele Pass - definitely the most scenic entrance.

Strongly suggest Steele Pass.
Far more interesting, varied route
Less crowded, harried or problematic,
Lower, less snow/mud.
More enjoyable at a relaxed pace.

Happy Trails!

He will be fine. Probably have way more fun going steele, but N. Pass will be mellow on that bike, pretty much regardless of tire. Unless there is ice. Then its exciting no matter what.

North Pass is a road, not a trail, and though I'm not a motorcycle expert, I would think he'd be fine.  All the usual warnings apply - extra food, water, be prepared for vehicle trouble, etc.

A friend wants to take his BMW 1200GS with Dunlop Trail Max tires over N Pass to the springs. He is a high-time road rider with limited trail experience. Anyone have experience in this area? Comments appreciated.
