I'm also planning the Hunter Mountain trip for that weekend.  We'll be starting early Friday, the 9th from Hwy 190.  I'll be driving a Jeep Wrangler pulling an off-road teardrop trailer.  The other vehicle with me will be a 2009 Tacoma 4x4.  Obviously, we both have chains and are prepared to resort to Plan "B" if this doesn't look possible.  We hope to make the Homestake Camp by the Racetrack on Friday night.  We'll do Lippencott on Saturday, and spend that night at the springs.  If the North Pass is clear by then, we'll head out that way on Sunday morning.  Oterwise, Steele Pass beckons.

Plan "B" involves Panamint Springs Resort and lots of Arrogant Bastard Ale.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

So - in the event this sweet hot weather keeps up, we are hoping snow won't be too much of an issue. But I'll certainly note Hunter and will check a few days prior to the rides.

I'll keep reading the posts on road conditions..

I think at this time of year you're going to find a lot of snow blocking Hunter Mountain Road still.

Hi -

From the laptop, things are quite flat and pixelated. But Maybe there are folks out there who could recommend some good day trips - off the beaten path (4X4, Enduro Cycle, needed).

I'd like to ask the experts if the following route would be doable in a day. Staged from Keeler.

(we'll have three full days out of Big Pine April 7-11.)

Day I - Teakettle Junction Loop.

Via Google Maps.
