Hi Toby,
Yes! Just got back from some wonderful days at Saline.
We tried to fly in on Thursday, battled high winds, rain and low clouds only to circle the stormy springs and fly back to Bishop for the night.
Friday was windy in Bishop, but a perfect calm day in Saline and we dropped in (carrier landing, I need to smooth that out) for a couple days.
Just got back to Oregon tonight, with the usual scud running that washed the plane as a side effect. :-)
Runway was in good shape, the usual bumps along the way. Springs were wonderful as usual. I'm looking forward to flying in again.

Timmy,
Thanks for the update!
The C180 landing means that I would probably have been fine landing in my Tiger. The Supercub could probably land on terrain that I could not.  It's good to know the strip is in usable shape.

A super cub and a cessna 180 landed on the chicken strip Sunday morning, before the game.

appletreasures,
I'm up in Oregon and don't personally know anyone flying in from the south, but if you are interested in more general Saline fly-in information, I can suggest a few places to look:

Which links to a great article here:

I'd be interested in hearing first hand stories about flying into Saline Valley.
I live in the San Diego Area and would like to connect with someone who flys in from southern CA.

Hello Saliners,
I havent' been able to get any firsthand reports of Chicken Strip, but on further consideration of all the rain that recently fell I think it's unlikely that the runway is in landable condition. Therefore we're sadly calling off our weekend excursion and wish all of you that did get in a wonderful weekend!

Hello fellow Saline campers,
I have been coming to Saline for over 20 years. This weekend, weather permitting, I hope to fly in for the first time.

Hearing about all the weather that has hit, I'm concerned about the condition of Chicken Strip. I last walked it after Thanksgiving. Have any of you heard about its condition in the last couple weeks?

Many thanks,
-Otmar
