BFG KO2 is a good desert tire.  Cooper tires are strong as well, and they get bonus points for being made in the USA.

I am thinking of getting KO2s for my suv. Do I need to get smaller rims to avoid rubbing?

I've been running BFG All Terrain KO and now KO2 LT 225/75-16 on my '07 RAV4 for 10 years with excellent performance on 4WD roads.  Had to replace the 17" rims that came with the car with Toyota 16". They're 29" tires so one inch oversize giving me a measured 8" ground clearance (vs. 7.5" with stock tires).  No rubbing at full lock with stock suspension.  Speedometer dead on with oversize.  Don't know if they'll fit on the newer RAV4s with stock 6" ground clearance.

As light as a RAV4 is, any LT (Light Truck) tire should work fine, if you can find one that will fit your rims.  If you have 17" or 18" rims, it will be tough to find LT tires small enough to fit.

I'd check some of the less aggressive truck/SUV tires, like BFG Rugged Terrains, Cooper Discoverer A/TWs or something along those lines.

Good luck, and if that doesn't work, just trade that thing in on a 4Runner and stop worrying about it! [biggrin]

Super swamper mud boggers. Perfect for a RAV4. Probably have to lift the RAV and regear it and modify the engine but well worth it

I'm looking for recommendations for all-terrain tires for my late model RAV4. Looking to make the vehicle suitable for a Saline assault.
